Justice & Ethics

Climate justice is a critical element of addressing climate change, as it focuses on the equitable distribution of both the burdens and benefits of transitioning to a more sustainable future. Climate justice solutions involve addressing the disproportionate impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations, promoting environmental justice, and empowering communities to participate in the transition to a more sustainable and equitable future.

Breakout Session: Negotiating and Enacting Ethical Goals

Climate justice requires that we benefit and uplift the people our society has made vulnerable. Doing this effectively requires community participation in the design and implementation of our projects. This workshop will kick off with a sequence of brief but inspiring talks from experts in the key areas of strategic planning, research, and curriculum design. Then in a guided workshop, participants will work together to redesign workflows and organizational structures to incorporate stakeholder engagement into strategic planning, research, and curriculum design. The workshop is structured for participants to learn ethical principles and practices by doing them.
